《医疗英语》是根据美国McGraw－Hill出版公司InstrumentalEnglish应用英语丛书中的EnglishfortheMedicalProfessions翻译注释而成。本书有以下几个特点：1）基本词汇重复出现率高，便于循序渐进地进行学习。基本词汇不仅在词汇A、词汇B以及当课课文中出现，而且还在各级课文中多次重现。学习者可以在不同上下文中不断加深对这些单词的理解和记忆。2）通过介绍词根、词缀，系统学习词汇。在词汇A中，编者首先讲解某词根、词缀的含意，然后将具有这个词根或词缀的一组单词放在一起，逐个解释，并给出例句。这种学习词汇的方法尤其适于学习含有大量希腊、拉丁及德语词根、词缀的医学词汇。3）*后的总词汇表不仅包括词汇A、词汇B中的生词，而且也包括课文中出现的对读者来说可能是生词的词条。读者在学习时可参考总词汇表，这样就大大节省了来回翻查课本或词典的时间。
